Minnesota Governor: Philando Castile Would Be Alive if He Was White

Minnesota Governor: Philando Castile Would Be Alive if He Was WhiteAlong with the alarming footage of the death of Alton Sterling, a Louisiana man who was gunned down by police, another man by the name of Philando Castile was gunned down in his car by police in front of his fiancee's daughter after trying to show them his ID. Many people have used social media as their platform to send their condolences to the family of Minnesota's Philando Castile, as well as express their outrage toward another black man killed by police.
The amount of black men and women being killed by law enforcement is so disparaging that even Minnesota's governor Mark Dayton chimed in with his own critical thoughts. In a press conference that took place earlier today, Dayton stated that the shooting of Philando Castile would not have taken place if he were white.
Castile, his fiancee Diamond Reynolds, and her 4-year-old daughter were pulled over by cops because of a minor traffic violation. According to Reynolds, she said "He let the officer know that he had a firearm and he was reaching for his wallet and the officer just shot him in his arm." Reynolds was recording the whole stop via Facebook live, and caught her fiance's last living moments before being fatally wounded by police for reaching to grab his ID.
