A mentally unstable woman stripped down and put on a show for commuters on Houston’s US-290 for nearly two hours.
A mid-morning traffic jam Monday in Houston shocked travelers when they saw the cause of the delay.
A naked woman was dancing atop a big rig for nearly two hours before authorities were able to get her down, according to Chron.com.
“She just crawled up the front of that truck, up on the bumper, up on the hood, all the way up,” said Brian Shirley, a public information officer for the Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department.
The bizarre incident began at approximately 9 a.m. before firefighters finally coaxed her into a ladder truck basket around 11 a.m.
Before climbing on the truck, the 25-year-old naked woman wandered into traffic on US 290 near Huffmeister, causing a three-car pile up, according to Harris County Sheriff’s Dep. Thomas Gilliland.
Authorities also believe the woman was involved in two separate hit-and-runs in the Jersey Village area before driving onto US-290, parking her car, and walking into traffic after disrobing.
Some passerbys verbally abused the woman, who is currently undergoing an evaluation at a nearby hospital, shouting insults and profanities as they drove by the scene.
“Our biggest challenge was treating the patient with respect and dignity and getting her down safely,” Shirley said. “It was really tough trying to keep things calm when people were driving by and yelling and not being very nice about things.”
Keaton Gray, another man at the scene, said, “I was shocked. It was kind of saddening … As time went on it was less funny and more saddening.”
