Aldi stores confess! Our groundbeef is actually cut up horse meat!!!!!
November 20, 2013
That's right, the discount food store chain Aldi has just confirmed that all of their beef products are actually horse meat. The company says that tests have confirmed nearly all of their products which were labeled as beef actually contain between 30% and 100% horse meat. Aldi is blaming their suppliers, which are located in France and one is believed to be located in Romania.
The company seems to be just as shocked and disgusted as you are releasing this statement "This is completely unacceptable and like other affected companies, we feel angry and let down by our supplier. If the label says beef, our customers expect it to be beef. Suppliers are absolutely clear that they are required to meet our stringent specifications and that we do not tolerate any failure to do so." Such products which contain horse instead of beef are their beef lasagna and other once classified as tasty products. No word has been released yet if Aldi has pulled the horse meat products from their shelves until they can line up a new supplier. In the meantime, Aldi has stated that it feels "angry and let down" by their French suppliers. It seems that many people will now be digging through their freezers to discard of any Aldi beef!
