Fans who left a Boosie BadAzz show feeling they had been duped with an impersonator, in Columbus, OH on Saturday (May 14) may be displeased to learn that Lil Boosie himself has confirmed that it was actually him. According to reports a whisper disputing the rapper's identity began to surface as soon as he took the Club Xclusive stage, leading to an exodus of most of the disgruntled crowd. On Monday however, Boosie hopped on Instagram to vouch that they had indeed been in his presence, explaining that his doubters may have been thrown off because his face was still swollen from a medical procedure.
"If y'all noticed I haven't posted a video or pic, nor have I posted a Snapchat video in the last week since my oral surgery. In the photos that were snapped of me you can see why I hadn't posted. My face is still swollen from surgery, otherwise I would be doing a video explanation. But fuck it, cancelling my shows was not a option this weekend, I still performed in full, despite pain and doubt," he wrote.
Fans of the Baton Rouge rapper have proven mistrusting of him before. He was forced to defend his integrity in January after being accused of faking cancer, dismissing those accusations by posting a photo of the scar he obtained from surgery to remove half of his kidney in late 2015. Amidst the post-performance chatter that brewed up and photos comparing the thought-to-be impostor with that of Boosie, were those who actually figured the performer to be Boosie but speculated cancer to be the reason for his altered appearance.  His presence on the gram helped quell some of the speculation, as his recent inactivity on social media had been one of the sources of gossip about his health.
