Lebron may soon becoming richest NBA PLAYER. Sorry JORDAN
LeBron James collected himself quite a check last year, when he signed his lifetime deal with Nike. However, for a while now, nobody knew exactly how much it was worth. The 4x MVP has got 13 signature shoe models and a couple takedown models with his Zoom Soldier series, so he's got plenty of shoes under his belt, but there wasn't a deal of this magnitude to gauge off of. Former Nike endorsee and rapper Kanye West said on his track Facts, “Gave LeBron a billi’ not to run away,” to which LeBron just disregarded. However, we may finally have at least a ballpark to work from.
In an interview with GQ, childhood friend and teammate, and current business partner Maverick Carter shed a tiny bit of light on the deal. While he wouldn't give exact numbers, when asked if it was “a billi not to run away,” Carter pointed up, meaning that the deal may be worth more than we had initially imagined.
"It's a fantastic deal. Nike feels great about the deal. That's the most important thing," Carter said. "It's the largest deal in the history of the company. Their hope is he makes even more. And our hope is that, too, obviously."
Last year, Michael Jordan became the first NBA player to eclipse the billionaire mark, but that was in conjunction with his ownership of the Charlotte Hornets (formerly Bobcats) as well as his shoe sales. Lebron’s deal will be outright a billion in addition to his current net worth.
