Virginia Men Arrested For Plotting to Shoot Up Black Churches
A group of men in Virginia, who have been described as white supremacists by various news outlets, have been arrested for plotting to shoot and bomb Black churches and Jewish synagogues.
According to the Associated Press, the FBI uncovered the plot, headed by Robert C. Doyle, who held a meeting at his home to speak about carrying out the attacks. In October, Doyle and Ronald Beasley Chaney III attempted to buy weapons to carry out the attacks, but the dealer was an undercover FBI agent.
Doyle met with three undercover agents to order "two firearms, silencers, as well as explosives, with the intent to purchase the weapons." He also made an order for "$50,000 in diamonds, $30,000 in gold, and $20,000 in silver to be paid by Doyle and delivered by the undercover agents at a later date." The men were allegedly planning to buy land and stockpile the goods for their planned racial war.
The two men were arrested and charged with conspiracy to possess firearms after having been convicted of felonies, as Doyle had seven prior felonies on his record and Beasley had several felonies on his record. They are currently in custody and are expected to appear in court over the next few days.
