Mother & Boyfriend Charged With Meth Overdose of 3-Year-Old
According to friends and family, Logan Starliper has been living a tortured life with her mother and boyfriend for several months.
The 3-year-old was found dead in her bed after mother, Brittany Higgins, and Higgin's boyfriend, Brian Bennett, "checked on her" at 9 p.m.
While they claimed they thought she was sleeping for almost 23 hours (from being put to bed at 10:30 p.m. the previous day), a toxicology report ended up showing methamphetamine and buprenorphine (opioid) in the child's system. Discoloration was also found around her mouth, eyes, and cheeks. There has yet to be an explanation on how Logan got the drugs, but evidence during a search of the home showed they were not well kept away.
While it's every mother's job to protect their children, Higgins fell short admitting to keeping meth in a bag inside a closet and allowed Bennett to keep his Subutex on a stand by the bed.
There were even used pipes with residue left in them. Though Public Opinion stated the couple would border their bedroom with a "baby gate" to do the drugs, the child would often still be able to watch as they used it. This information came from Rodney Mower who allegedly sold the couple the meth.

This isn't the first time child abuse has entered the Higgins household. Those close to the family knew of possible neglect when Logan would show up with unknown bruises.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for both adults on April 3rd. Involuntary manslaughter, drug delivery resulting in death and two counts of child endangerment, all felonies, and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and third-degree murder are all charges the pair are facing. Mower, however, has been charged with death by delivery.
