Georgia Man Arrested for Attempted Drive-By on Police Officer

A 21-year-old man from Georgia attempted to shoot a police officer while driving by him on Friday.
Image: Georgia Man Arrested for Attempted Drive-By on Police Officer Image #2The suspect, identified as Victor Mejia Nunez, was arrested by police shortly after firing the shot early Friday morning, according to WSB-TV. “He noticed a vehicle slow down and then heard what he thought was either gunfire or fireworks. He looked over and realized it was gunfire coming towards him,” said Roswell police official Zachary Frommer to the station. The officer, Brian McKenzie, was not hit. McKenzie went after Nunez and apprehended him after the shooter crashed the stolen SUV he was driving. The shooter’s motives are unclear at this time, according to Frommer. “Detectives have been speaking to him. He’s been less than forthcoming so we don’t know motive or anything like that,” he said. Nunez is facing several charges including aggravated assault on an officer and being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
