Racial Tension rises in Texas after KKK shooting
A campaign headquarters filled with people, including Jefferson County Sheriff candidate Zena Stephens, was shot at yesterday by a White male in what appears to be racially-charged crime.
Stephens was standing outside of her headquarters in the 500 block of S. 11th Street when the suspect began shooting at the crowd after shouting "f**k the n****rs". Fortunately no one was injured, and two firearms which are believed to be BB guns were retrieved from his vehicle following his arrest on a separate charge. Four other suspects - three men and a woman - were also taken into custody in relation to the shooting.
Stephens' Republican opponent Ray Beck said "This is a real travesty. This should not happen in modern times. I am a personal friend of Zena's and we are all glad that she and her friends and members of her campaign were not injured."
