Presidental hopeful Bernie Sanders being arrested
Footage of Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders getting arrested in 1963 was shared on the Internet this week by Kartemquin Films. The millenial favorite is seen being carried away by two police officers during a school segregation protest on 73rd and Lowe in the South Side of Chicago on August 12th. According to a dated news article the 21-year-old Sanders was arrested on 74th and Lowe and was charged with resisting arrest.
Sanders' campaign was questioned by the film company on Friday, February 20th, who in turn confirmed his identity. Sanders spokesman Michael Briggs and senior adviser Tad Devine were both quoted saying Bernie said it was him, with Devine throwing in the fact the presidential candidate said he once owned the very same watch seen in the video.
