Columbus Short Given 3 Years Probation In Bar Assault Case
Yesterday actor Columbus Short was slightly let off the hook after pleading no contest to assaulting a man last year, according to several sources.
The alleged bar brawl took place back in May 2014. Victim Felton Hyche claimed Short punched him and left him with a concussion and fractured eye socket, leaving Short to plead to an amended felony count of assault likely to cause great bodily injury. The former "Scandal" actor was looking at four years until yesterday (9/24), when Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Leslie Brown sentenced him to three years formal probation instead. 33-year-old Short was also given "60 days of community labor and ordered to complete 26 anger management classes" on top of paying restitution to Hyche, according to a statement from L.A.'s District Attorney's Office.
Columbus Short's attorney, Ludlow B. Creary II, spoke to the media about the incident after the hearing, happy that "Mr. Short can put this behind him and get on with his life and his career." "We came to an agreement with the prosecutor and the court," he stated.
The actor has yet to speak on the trial or incident.
