Kaliber holds firm to the true essence of DJ'ing. Leaving behind the mold of recent years, and creating his own sound, business and loyalty to the game. He leaves no sound un turned treads the line of holding a true bond between the artist the dj, and dancefloor. Welcome to the exclusive Interview of DJ KALIBER on at #V2
#1 -Tell us who is DJ Kaliber?
for 1 Dj Kaliber is a solid individual Loyal, cool & and down to earth with a high tolerance. Music head, technology geek some know me as the guy who takes advantage of the 2nd ammendment (if you know what i mean) but for collection purpose lol, but most of all I have a high respect for music not just hip hop or rap but music in general and i HATE BS & DRAMA
#2 -Tell us about your style on turntables?
My style when im spinning is the Kaliber way im not gonna try to sound like this guy or the next i wont even do the same blends. I like to remind people of what real good music sound & feels like, something old, something new, something forgot about, & something fun. I try to refrain from the hard core rap like a lot of cats here do but if im in the type of spot ., trust, ham i must go
#3- So how did you get your start, what made you want to Dj?
I always loved music when i was younger i used to try to mix Ugk (may the pimp rest in peace) & master p with 2 dvd players. But i started when i was working as a cook at Tonys Bar & Grill where at the time Dj Kutta & Tim Bachus was there and i started kicking it in the booth helping them pack and unpack, then i bought some Technics, from Kutta then some cdjs from Juan 2. After Kutta & Tim taught me the game they made their departure from the club and left me the nights I accepted it and never looked back (safe to say i know they're proud)

#4- Dj's and getting signed now are you on contract?
Djs getting sign is cool and profitable. The good thing is that someone noticed your work and decided they wanna hang on to ya. No im not sign nor on contract, will i do it? Probably so if the right opportunity comes forth
#5- How do you feel about DJ's now form DJ's then in form or working with artist and how the business changed? It changed like a mf but its not all bad. Back then artist used to use Dj's to scratch over records, do loops, and mash-ups. Now days artist use Dj's for their voice and their clout really not caring what their skills are like and as for a show you will rarely see a live mix from a dj for an artist show most of it is a mixdown put together. It works but it takes the fun out of it, so the only thing you're doing is talking
#6- Which hiphop decade had the hottest Dj's 80,90,00?
Im a 80s baby 90s cool but the 80s was the pioneers man you had Cut Creator, Eric B, Jazzy Jeff, Dmc & Skee just to name a few but im still a fan of Howard Q (not sure what year he started
#7- How do you see the Memphis movement in support.
Artist to artist producer to producer wise? Memphis support is at a low level everyone is broken off into groups of who they deal with once we break that barrier there will be no stopping us one thing i dislike is that our city support more outsiders than we do our own look what we did for Waka, Nicki, Gucci & others but this same city talks bad about an artist who make it and rarely come back. For example Miscellaneous & DD the Kidd is 2 of the hardest out the city but yet they don't get full support and Gotti put on for us and people still dissing him Im proud of him
#8- How was it growing up In the Memphis,TN?
Im from Orange Mound it was bumpy as hell but being brought up around solid people youll know how to deal with any obstacles you face. In Memphis the key is stay in your lane, mind your business, respect the next man's yard, never fold & never let em see you sweat because they'll feed off of it
#9- Where was the best performance you ever had?
October 27, 2001 NYC i was called out there do a party on one side of a double layered club by middle of my set a manager asked me where was i from after telling him they said they were loving my style then they told the dj in the other area to take a break and thats when they patched throughout the whole club and opened the walls so i could be in control of the whole spot #Epic
#10- Any artist you did drops for and completely co-sign out here?
I supportive quite few who make quality music Sean K (of block syndicate) DD the Kidd, Miscellaneous, and my homie Datguy Troubleboy & Yung D to name a few
#11- For people who havent seen Dj Kaliber perform what are they missing?
Something that they need in their life, a night of variety and one hell of a party (hangovers optional)
#12- New Projects fill us in?
