Measure Me Ready: Almenjoi (Exclusive Interview with Viralvoice)

Measure Me Ready!

Almenjoi is an artist that would risk it all to win. A devoted mother she let her trails drive her to her dream. In a industry over run with egos and testosterone. She step to the Mic with poise and a personality that forces your attention. Its more than music, her music is her life. So its not a question of authenticity, but just how much you can handle? This is the Exclusive Interview of Almenjoi only at #V2

#1 -Tell us who is AlmenJoi?

Almenjoi is a passion filled rap artist with a story to tell the world. You wont hear about the glamorous things because life has not been bright and shiny for Almenjoi. Almenjoi means all men enjoy which relates to my music. Almenjoi is just a normal woman trying to achieve success. Almenjoi is laid back but loves to have fun. A cool chick in flesh but Mean with the BARZ!

#2 -How did you get into hiphop, when was that this is what I want to do moment?

I was born and grew up in the Hip Hop Golden Era and I always loved hip hop as a culture. I remember when I was about eight years old watching my older cousin put 12 inch sub woofers in his 84 chevy cutlass and blasting Three Six Mafia Mystic Stylez, that day i fell in love with THE BASS!! When I first heard Gangsta Boo's Inquiring Minds Album in the living room of my Grandmothers duplex in Glenview, South Memphis there I fell in love with the art. Always been addicted to catchy hooks and meaningful lyrics and when i seen salt and pepa perform at the Source Awards I put in the back of my mind I wanted to do that too, perform, control the crowd, and entertain the people. That day I Feel in love with Hip Hop! Now the moment came in 2006 at home working with Sonar 6 and a $15 microphone I told myself this is WHAT I WANT TO DO!!

#3- Take the top the 5 female Mc's of all time against the top 5 male Mc's who would win?

Now I'm no expert my list

#5 Eve
#4 Mc Lyte
#3 Nicki Minaj
#2 Missy Elliott
#1 Lauryn Hill
-----------------
#5 Lil Wayne
#4 Eminem
#3 Jay Z
#2 Kendrick Lamar
#1 Lil Boosie (dont judge me)

I got to go with the females, even tho it'll be neck and neck, Im sure the femcees will win.

#4- Being a female Mc do you feel the pressure to imitate the dominate image of sex sells?
No for the simple fact Lyrics sell better than sex. Im sexy with out my ass out and all that extra sh*t. Im here to give the world my music.

(Explicit Lyrics)

#5- I see you a signed to Block Syndicate. How did that deal come across?
Actually I watched a couple of videos before the deal. The CEO Sean K heard my music on Reverbnation and was intrigued. Hit me up and got me in the studio and it was history in the making. I was blessed with a strong solid team.

#6- So you where raised and Memphis and had a father that was incarcerated how did that effect you growing up?

Well there was a lack of a father figure which affected me as I got older. On Father's Day you feel left out when everybody else is eating and bonding with their dad, and you just get to imagine. Going for visits not really understanding the situation that dad cant leave with us, it was hard but fair and i made the best of it.

#7- Being an artist and a mother, do you think some labels see that as a burden for a female artist?

Yes I do for the simple both mother and artist work 24 hrs a day. You have to balance it out for it not to be a burden. Now my personal life should not interfere with business being a mother it might slow you down some may think. I personally feel its how u balance it out! Its Life!

#8- So in Almenjoi's kickback time you like to play videogames?
 What's your top 5
Top five I have played:
#1 Tekken
#2 Call of Duty: Black Ops
#3 NBA 2k13
#4 Fight Night Round 2
#5 GTA
Dont judge me. haha I love action! Im competition in #4-#1

#9- You recently jumped into IMBL(Iron Mouth Battle League) that's some tough competition, what made you do that?

I have always been a fan of the battle rap art. I was kinda a silent student. I never would sign up to be in a battle because my passion is music making. The opportunity presented itself and I had to take advantage. Like Eminem said "You only get one shot" so i accepted the invitation.. Shoutout Ac Dutch and K-Wine. I mean you got to earn respect as a MC and its no better way than to catch some bodies. Shoutout BSMG!

#10- So how does it differ being a "battle rapper" from just being a MC, because they always say battle rappers cant make hit songs. you think that's true?

Battle rappers use the same attributes MC's use on making a crowd pleasing song to win the battle. Crowd control, lyrics, stage presence, clarity and performance. I personally feel like its upon the artist to make a good songs being or not being a battle rapper has nothing to do with making good music. Well Im personally looking at battling rapping as lyrical exercise. I wouldn't give myself the title as just a battle rapper, I am an Artist.

#11- For people who haven't heard any of your music, what are the missing?
Music with substance and meaning. Point. Blank. Period. Hear for yourself.

#12- You have a mixtape coming out called Dream till you wake up. Whats the meaning behind that when and what can we expect on this album ?

The meaning behind #DreamTilYouWakeUp is to never stop believing and moving toward your goals. Keep dreaming until it happens. Everything started from a vision now take that vision and make it a reality. Its due out virtually very soon this year. There are finishing touches that have to be made before releasing. Stay Tuned. You can expect an introduction to Kilo Stacs and Almenjoi. Music you can get something out of. Co-ed mixtape for a co-ed audience. Raw real lyrics and Banging tracks. Its a song for everybody on #DreamTilYouWakeUp
