Dr. Dre & Jimmy Iovine Donate $70 Million To Start USC School
Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine are eager to see the music business live on. The two have generously donated $70 million to the University of Southern California for creating a new academy to help those interested in music. The academy will be named the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology, and the Business of Innovation. In fall 2014, the academy will accept its first 25 students for a 4-year program.
The curriculum will include "arts and entrepreneurship; technology, design and marketability; concept and business platform; and creating a prototype. It aims to foster entrepreneurship that brings students' entertainment, technology and business skills into play. Instruction will involve engineering, computer science, fine arts, graphic design, business and leadership training."
