A Texas teen who was initially believed to be one of the victims of a carjacking and robbery is being held behind bars after it was revealed that she was actually a collaborator in the armed heist.
Authorities learned of 17-year-old Susan Mize through an interview that investigators conducted with Preston Barry, 20, about his car being jacked and him being stuck up at gunpoint. While explaining the events that followed the entry into his vehicle by the 15-year-old and 16-year-old assailants, Barry mentioned that Mize happened to be riding with him until she was let out at her Spring community home by the suspects.
According to reports, Barry would be assaulted for his wallet and forced to remove cash from a local ATM machine before he was hogtied and bound by Mize's shoelaces. After the assailants agreed to drop Mize off, Barry managed to convince them that he could get more money if they brought him back to his home. It was back at his residence that he was able to rush inside, lock the door, and contact authorities with enough time for them to arrive and catch the suspects at the scene.
Upon questioning Mize for her version of events, officers became skeptical as to whether or not she was telling the truth. Ultimately they determined that she was lying and that the whole ordeal was a set-up that she was in on.
She is being held on $75,000 bond for aggravated robbery.
