Article Image: Rapper/Felon Claims to be Prince's Son, Files Suit for $300M EstateA violent felon, and former rapper serving seven years in a federal super-max prison filed a paternity claim against Prince's estate on Monday (May 11). 39-year-old Carlin Q. Williams, who goes by the hip-hop alias of Prince Dracula, has reportedly linked up with a lawyer who once represented Prince on trademark disputes. “All we’re asking is the truth in this matter. It’s an unfortunate circumstance,” attorney, Patrick Cousins told the Associated press. According to a representative for the lawyer, Williams approached his office claiming to be the star's son years ago, but was blown off at the time.

According to Williams, his mother Marsha Henson raised him to believe he was the illegitimate son of Prince, claiming to have found out she was pregnant after a tryst with the musician in a Kansas City hotel in July of 1976. In September of 2015, Williams' Facebook page is reported to have posted images of a child next to professional stock photos of the legend, with a caption that read "My Family And My Dad". Williams has a son [purported to be Prince's grandchild] by the name of Cartoon Williams. The profile has since been taken down, but did boast Carlin as “son of (Prince) Rogers Nelson ‘aka’purple rain man from Mn,” before its removal.

Should tests prove the validity of Williams' claim he would become the sole heir to Prince's fortune, along with his master recordings and vault comprising hundreds of unreleased songs. Since April 21st, Prince's half-sister Tyka Nelson has been in the process of gaining handle of the estate, having filed an emergency petition to appoint a special administrator to oversee it. In the filing she declares that her brother had no living children and designated their other half-siblings as heirs to the estate. Under Minnesota law, the child of a deceased one would assume automatic inheritance. In the absence of a will, there is a lot on the line, with the singer's assets valued at $300-million.

Williams' rap sheet is littered with convictions for drug possession and distribution, unlawful use of a weapon, domestic violations and other petty crimes. In December of 2013 he plead guilty to transporting a .32 caliber semi-automatic pistol in interstate commerce. He is set for release in 2020. According to attorney Cousins he has no awareness of how Williams got in contact with him, claiming, “I definitely didn’t reach out to Carlin [Williams]. As busy as I was, as busy as I am now, I wasn’t sitting around calling people to figure out if they were related to Prince or not.”
