Rapper Cupcakke attempted suicide in this generation of Emo-Rap
Cupcake sparked widespread concern from fans on social media and an outpouring of support - after she announced to fans that she planned on committing suicide.
Here's what she said on her Twitter followers:
Cupcakke later posted a screengrab of the tweet and added: "Thank you for everything y'all have done for me, I really appreciate it."
What did her fans do? Well, they may have saved her life.
Cupcakke's fans and friends called the police - and they busted into her Chicago home and stopped the 21 year old rapper from killing herself.
Her good friend comedian Elijah Daniel confirmed that Chicago police conducted a wellness check, and took her into custody:
Fellow artist Charli XCX posted a message to Cupcakke after the worrying tweet, writing: "You are one of the most unique, genuine and loving people I have ever met in this industry. You are such a HUGE inspiration [to] so many kids, to so many artists, to me. Whenever you walk into a room or onto a stage you exude so much LOVE and the energy in the room turns electric.
"I have read and heard that you are safe now and that someone is looking after you,"
Cupcake blew up in 2015 when two of her songs, "Deepthroat" and "Vagina", went viral on social media. The songs were later included on her debut mixtape, Cum Cake (2016), which was placed at #23 in Rolling Stone' "Best Rap Albums of 2016" list.
