Spurs Coach gives Memphis waiter a $5000 tip.
Coach Gregg Popovich is as good at giving tips for service, as he is giving tips on basketball and life. The well respected NBA coach and occasional social commentator recently ran up a bill most would consider hefty, while out at a wine specialty restaurant in Memphis. But it wasn't until he added the tip that one could cite a comma in his meal's total cost. In fact, the tip itself was in the four digit range.
A photo of Coach Pop's receipt for the $815.73 meal is making it's rounds on the internet, complete with his signature. But what is drawing eyes is the $5,000 gratuity he put on top of it.
Either Popovich was trying to outdo Shaq, who attested to giving a waitress $4,000 for bringing his food on time, or his server at McEwen's was so good that day, he had no problem chipping a little extra something off of his NBA head coach best $11 million a year salary.
