Mount Sinai doctor, David Newman, turned himself into the Manhattan Special Victims Division after a patient accused him of drugging and performing lewd acts on her. A 22-year-old woman said she entered the emergency room over pains in her right shoulder. The woman recalls the nurse giving her morphine and an injection for inflammation. According to Pix11, the victim claims the doctor gave her an additional dose of morphine, which caused her to fall in-and-out of consciousness. Police sources say she claims he allegedly performed a lewd act after masturbating.
The Hospital said in a statement, "The physician has been suspended from Mount Sinai pending the outcome of the investigation, and we continue to cooperate fully with the appropriate authorities. He has not provided care to patients at Mount Sinai since the investigation began." The hospital added, "We take the nature of these allegations very seriously and continue to conduct our own extensive internal inquiry. The health and safety of our patients are our primary concern. Since this is a police matter, we cannot provide further details."
