Meek, Wiz Khalifa, Eminem & Vince Staples in Running For Oscar
Rappers Eminem's, Meek Mill's, Wiz Khalifa's and Vince Staples' songs are among the 74 being considered in the Original Song category for the 88th Academy Awards, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Both Meek Mill and Vince Staples are in the running for their own songs featured inCreed. The Philly rapper for "Fighting Stronger," featuring Jhene Aiko and Ludwig Goransson. And the Long Beach native's collaborative work with Donald Glover, Jhené Aiko and Ludwig Göransson "Waiting For My Moment," is up for the nom.
Impressively, Wiz Khalifa's biggest hit-to-date Furious 7's "See You Again" featuring Charlie Puth—which peaked number one on Billboard 's Hot 100 for 12 weeks—is up for the golden man.
The nods would be a first for the three rappers who now share the category with 2002 Original Song winner Eminem, who was also nominated for Southpaw's "Phenomenal."
