Dispatcher In Tamir Rice Case Resigns after 12 year old is shot by police

The Cleveland, Ohio dispatcher who remained under scrutiny after police shot and killed 12-year-old Tamir Rice has just resigned, according to reports.

"I have enjoyed working here and I will miss you all," wrote Beth Mandl in a two-sentence letter, sent out July 16. Her resignation came just days after being given an ultimatum for her absence. Mandl failed to show up for work since April 3 and had previously spoken out about her stressful work environment. This all comes nearly a year after Mandl dispatched Cleveland police to Cudell Recreation Center, where one witness called about the young Rice waving a gun that was "probably fake." Rice died the day after he was shot by police who reportedly mistook his bb gun for a real one.

This isn't the first time Mandl has had problems on the job. In 2008 she was arrested and charged for bringing gun to a bar and was previously fired from her dispatcher position at another police department.
