Heart of A King - Jus Daze Interview

It takes more than just heart and determination to accomplish some of the feats he has. He took a look inside his life, and forced a change. Critical moves at critical points, got him critically acclaim. We dive into the mind and life of Daze and brush back the image we see now, to see what used to be a merely a surface of what he would become. The official interview of Jus Daze only at V2.

1. Who is Jus Daze?
Jus Daze is The Bowlegged Bandit. A Rapper's Rapper. An Mc's MC. It's hard to say WHO I am because that question is so broad, but for argument sake, Jus Daze is an MC out of Queens with a mission, a goal, and passion to complete both.

2. How did you come up with that name?
My nickname since 3rd Grade has been "Daze". I used it throughout my whole life, until I tried out for GrindTime Now (The World's Largest  Rap Battle League) and my email address was JusDaze. When contacted over the phone and in person, they'd ask, "What's your name?" I'd reply "it's just Daze". (I hate sn's w/#'s behind them so I made it JusDaze bc JustDaze was taken) Since then, it's been a blessing in disguise bc if you google "Daze" all types of shit comes up. If you Google "Jus Daze", not only does it auto-complete searches, but it's ALL related to me.

3. You use be much heavier how heavy where you and how you lose the weight?
I weighed a little over 500lbs. I lost the weight w/constant exercise and diet. It wasn't easy, but I was determined. An accident I had gotten into as a result of the life I was leading opened my eyes and I knew it was a huge eye-opener as to needing to change my life. Since then, I have. My mind has changed about certain things, I quit doing and selling drugs and changed my overall physical being into what you see now.

4. Do you think the bow-legged help you career or hurt?
Both. Once you get to know me, it's almost as if it's non-existent. Initially, it's intriguing to people, but once you hear my music and you see me interact, you're more captivated by ME as opposed to my legs. Of course with labels, it's a major concern as well, but again, it's something that can be a blessing and a curse. to ask whether or not it's helped my career? I don't think it's helped, it's definitely been a part of it, but I wouldn't say it's had anything to do with my success. Work is the key factor in that.

5.Describe you rap style in 3 words?
Real, Lyrical, Deep

6.Which decade of hiphop was the best 80,90,00?
Depends on what you mean by "the best", my personal preference, as far as sound wise, would definitely have to be the 90's, but in the 80's, it evolved into that 90's sound, whereas the 90's helped it evolve into a HUGE demographic of people that listen from 2000 on. Each decade has it's strong points.

7.Whats the difference between forming a battle rap verse and a song verse?
Battle rap is acapella. A song has a tempo. Also the message is completely different, it's like speaking two different languages, which is why MOST have a problem transitioning into the other and being fluent in both.

8.Describe the feeling of being on the Jimmy Fallon show?
Surreal. Jimmy Fallon is a guy I used to watch on SNL w/my Mom and boom, one day I'm standing along side him rapping with The Roots! I don't know, the feeling is crazy. Also, the words that Jimmy, as well as The Roots offered after the show was so humbling and the fact that they seen "Star" potential in me and believed in what I was doing was like a surge of energy into pursuing my dreams. I was working really hard up until then and haven't stopped since, but that one moment was kinda like my shot heard round the world.

9.What the message you want to portray through your music?

Whatever you take from my music is what you take. I don't have a specific message. I've loved and lost. I've had ups & downs. There's my own personal struggles, as well as the challenges I face daily. There's times where I  wanna flex my skill and show my lyricism as well, so to say "What's my message", I don't know, I guess my message is never limit yourself. Keep pushing. Accept your flaws. Work hard to get what you want. Believe in your dreams. Chase your goals and don't stop till you achieve them.

10. In 12 months if someone could read a headline of Jus Daze what would it say?
Walk Twice As Hard, The New Album from Jus Daze, The Bowlegged Bandit Stands "Out" Among the Pack....yeah, something like that :)

11. Any Fears?
Tons. The fear of failure is a huge factor that inspires my success. Those who claim they aren't fearful aren't ready to embrace challenges.

12.Where can the people of viralvoice find your lastest work/battles/albums/etc.?
You can follow me on Twitter @JusDaze, www.facebook.com/JusDaze, www.JusDaze.com, www.TheBowleggedBandit.blogspot.com Hit me up, let's socialize and network.
My next album is called Walk Twice As Hard, which tells my story the most complete in retrospect to my previous albums. I address that those who have to WORK Twice As Hard to get what they have, appreciate it twice as much. Aside from being bowlegged, nothing was given to me, so the path I took had to be Walked Twice As Hard...anyone who has to work for what they have can relate to the message. I'm looking forward to the public hearing this one.
