Mac Gutta Album Review:HEAVY

Mac Gutta starts off hitting hard. A raspy, grunge, perfect urban blends drives your adrenaline high. And 80's sounding sample mixes into heavy bass. The voice is clear and his message is even clearer. He going for hottest in the South, this is the exclusive review of Mac Gutta.

The album starts off wild to say the least. Gutta pulls out an amp and hits you hard. His delivery is spot on and his flow is infectious. His punchlines are rare, but he seems to be more energetic than trying to be lyrically outspoken. He raps about the streets, dope, and women. Of course what rapper don't, but his fit and sound more authentic than most. The second song "Cocci" starts off with a corky fun vibe. The way he say cocky is entertaining, and it makes you like the song even more. You get to see a fun vibe from Gutta early which is rare from a "hood" rapper. The song is infectious and sticks with you, his flow follow suit and stays consistent, he switches it up towards the end of the song, which helps it to stay entertaining. "Life in the Hood" comes in next. And this song is BIG. It's chorus is delivered under a great vibe. The mix between singing and rap is a perfect blend. Gutta never let the vibes fall at all. Every moment on this song is energy. It has a similar topic pull, but you really just vibe more off his energy than anything. Yung Wiz a featured artist deliver the same high energy high octane verse with without flaws. The production is premiere and fits in perfectly and is delivered with an ease. You can tell this is his style and where he is most comfortable. The next song "Sexy Like A Mexican" is a different sound from MacGutta. The production is great, and was a perfect choice from the artist. But, the title and the words of the chorus is just awkward. The music and the way its delivered in the chorus is actually good. But, the words during the chorus is just crazy. I was just waiting to find the meaning of "sexy like a mexican" and I end up missing out on a good song. But it was just too mixed and just don't deliver a professional vibe, it felt very unsure and unguided. This song was a miss shot, simply because the words being changed around could of made it MUCH better. Then, he makes all that up with his song "BALL" Mac Gutta, is all over the place. But, for some reason he can control the chaos. Most artist in the rap game cant do that. This song is neatly sloppy with punchlines that are creative and direct. Mac gutta has ability to make you listen this song is just a great blend of hood and like ability. His persona seems to shine more than anything and that's what makes him deliver a good experience when he is in his element. The tempo is kicked up a notch and brings you to a nod and bounce that's missing in most songs today."My B*tch Bad" takes a different move. It has a motion in the beat that makes you wonder how Mac Gutta will deliver on the beat. But, the chorus starts off and it has the same flow. It kind of lets you down. The chorus is dub too heavy, kind of like his more aggressive records. Which works perfect for those songs. But this one fails to deliver a sensual, soft, vibe he wanted to portray for the ladies. Even though its more of a raw version of a love song it sounded more, forced than anything. More guidance, lets dubs and more passion could of made this a major record. "Work" starts off of with the voice of Memphis alumni LaChat. The chorus is infectious, its just simply the word work, but the way its intertwine with the beat makes it an hypnotic delivery. Mac Gutta verse is delivered with a spin, almost feel directed as he goes into detail about the deceit most rappers put out. What makes it fun is that, he puts it simply and it feels direct and great to hear. Some of his punchlines are hilarious, and just "work"  La Chat delivers, what you would expect and does not disappoint. This is just a good record all the way around. Dive down to the song "Addiction" where the vibe changes. Its has a Persian sound production with light flutes and  mellow production and eerie hypnotic vibe. The chorus that's delivered is done extremely well. I mean it has a dope meaning and deliver. Its different and Mac Gutta shows a different side of him which works well this time. I mean really well, his features are on point and gives the one the best vibes on the album. "Roll up Anotha One"  has a another great produced record. Mac gutta has a ear for instrumentals and his choices are spot on. The song is a vibe record, and what rappers called a "smoking song". The vibe is expected and don't really do anything special. The chorus is really good, and when it comes in a second time with a screwed "distorted" backing voice just amps the vibe. Mac Gutta's rap delivery was slow, all most too slow. Whats, dope is that he don't loose your attention, once again has a personality that delivers exciting bars. But, Ac Dutch a featured artist raps at a pace that picks your vibe back up. And gives the song a little more life. The last song "HOOD CYPHER" is big. I mean big like 7 features. MacGutta, WildWizzle, No Soda, AC Dutch, La Chat, Yung Wiz, and GC Eternal . The thing is is stars off good and ends better. This is a premiere record on the album and was smart for Mac Gutta to put that on his mixtape. Its really good and lets you see the diverse talent out of Memphis. Heavy is a album that's strong, egotistic, and violent. This makes the album good, Gutta isn't painting a fakepicture of his life. This is Memphis, his life vivid an direct. He delivers that through club records and hood bangers. The downside to the album is the records that MacGutta sounded unsure on. The ones that had a lighter tone, that didn't need as many dubs or hard placed lyrics. He has the ability to control the room, and emotional bring your vibe to hype in a matter of seconds. Gutta has a story, you can hear it in the pain in his voice. But, not one record did Gutta share that experience with his audience and that hurt the album. He has one the best album personalities I have heard on a mix tape in a Long time. He can make a club hit in seconds, and they are many on the album just not enough about him. This rapper is authentic and that would make his story that much more worth sharing. His corkyness and willing to put out songs that has funny lines, in such a rough environment is refreshing and real. Heavy is dope album with rare twist and turns and he delivers a album expected but perfected in the areas he strive in. Mac Gutta has a reason to be "Cocci"
