A man took four children hostage, then killed them, and shot police officer Kevin Valencia. Two of the kids were his own and the other two were his girlfriend's. He then took his own life. The children's ages ranged from one to 11, WFTV 9 reports.
According to court records, he had a lengthy criminal history but didn't spend any time in jail. Gary Lindsey, Jr. also had a history of a volatile relationship with the woman who called 911 on Sunday night.
WFTV 9 reports that the said woman filed for an order of protection in Orange County last year but failed to show up to the hearing. Both Lindsey and the woman were arrested multiple times for domestic violence against each other.
Moreover, records show three years earlier she tried to get him involuntarily committed under the Baker Act after she said he put a knife to her neck. He tried to put a knife to her neck and threatened to kill her in 2012 as well.
At a press conference on Tuesday evening, one of the sources claimed that there was no indication that Lindsey had threatened the children or that the children had ever been subjected to the domestic violence.
