IHOP Reveals They're Changing Their Name to 'IHOb'
The International House of Pancakes is changing their name. Yes, you read that correctly. IHOP, which has been a staple in breakfast foods for 60 years, took to Twitter to announce that they will be changing their name. While they didn't explain the reasoning for the name change, they did announce what they would be changing their name to: IHOb.
In a tweet, IHOP wrote, "For 60 pancakin’ years, we’ve been IHOP. Now, we’re flippin’ our name to IHOb. Find out what it could b on 6.11.18." A short trailer in the tweet shows the "P" in IHOP flipping upside down to become a "b." According to USA Today, IHOP’s executive director of communications Stephanie Peterson stated, “We’re serious about the quality of food and our menu, and this name change really reflects that."
IHOP's parent company, Dine Brands Global, recently closed down 30-40 locations. They also shut down 60 to 80 Applebee’s restaurants as well. Dine Brands Global claims that the move is meant to help the company acquire and grow smaller chains that offer healthy and ethnic foods. It is possible that the new IHOb will attempt to offer more health-conscious items. Fans of the restaurant will be left clueless until the big reveal on June 11th.
