Apparently, Kanye West's support of Donald Trump is making the Republican president more popular in the Black community. West famously tweeted, "You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought."
His words received instant backlash, and the "Flashing Lights" rapper took it a step further when he rocked a "Make America Great Again" hat. T.I. sat down with West and had a four-hour long conversation that turned into a record called "Ye vs The People," but that has been the only major support that West has received from his peers since his Trump support (to be clear, T.I. does not support Kanye's views, just Kanye as a musician and legend).
A recent poll taken by Reuters shows that Trump support has increased in the Black community since West came out on Twitter to defend him. According to the report, as of April 29, twenty-two percent of Black males approved of Trump's performance. That is double the number (11 percent) that had been reported just one week prior. Seven percent of Black males reported having “mixed feelings” about Trump, up from 1.5 percent.
