Chris Brown has been playing the damage control game with his career for nearly a decade after the notorious domestic violence incident occurred on the night of the Grammy's in 2009 with Rihanna. At times, he's shown spurts of progression, but it seems like every couple of months a new scandal with his name involving drug abuse, women, or criminal activity pops up. Now, a woman has come forward claiming that she was sexually assaulted while attending a supposed 'drug-fueled' orgy at his Los Angeles mansion.
According to the victim, Brown orchestrated her sexual assault by telling a member of his entourage to barricade a bedroom door where the victim, a group of women, and Lowell Grissom Jr. better known by his stage name, Young Lo were all trapped. In the lawsuit, the unidentified woman stated that a woman present in the room 'violently grabbed' her throat and made her perform fellatio on Grissom Jr. and later was pinned by the same woman and forced to perform oral sex on the woman as she sat on her face.
Court documents noted the victim was menstruating at the time, and Grissom eventually removed the couch from blocking the door, chased the woman around Brown's house, and raped her a total of two times.
This incident has sparked outrage in both the hip-hop and feminist communities alike and now, activist website Care2 has racked up over 49,000 petition signatures urging RCA Records to drop the multi-platinum R&B artist.
However, the petition was created after photos of Chris Brown popped up with the singer's hands around woman's throat which later was discovered to be just playful banter between Brown and a female associate. The Care2 website petition states the following in regards to Brown,
"Brown's dangerous history of violence against women has gone ignored for far too long. Brown is a threat to women and needs to be held accountable for his actions. Tell RCA Records to stop supporting a domestic abuser and drop Chris Brown immediately."
Now, with these rape allegations tarnishing Brown's reputation, the petition has picked up steam despite the petition having nothing to do with the actual sexual assault lawsuit.
Hopefully, if these allegations are valid, this unidentified woman will receive restitution and justice for what occurred and will be able to move forward positively. If these allegations are fallacious, Chris Brown needs to find better company to keep.
