Following the Golden State Warriors' Game 7 victory over the Houston Rockets, Kevin Durant offered up a bit of insight into how the Dubs approached defending James Harden. According to Romana Shelbourne, Durant stated that the Warriors knew Harden couldn't hold up for the duration of the series. "We knew at some point they’d tire out. James dribbled so much each possession, I know at some point he’ll wear down and we were going at him on the defensive side of the ball as well."
Despite Houston getting out to an early double-digit lead, Durant's Warriors weren't too concerned considering Harden's style of play, his conditioning, and the fact that they made him work defensively. He relayed further to Shelbourne, "There was no doubt we were going to come in here and play to the end and keep fighting no matter how many points we were down, we were down 15, we just kept coming."
