Reverend Michael Bruce Curry has made history in the Church, and his light continues to shine brightly.
Reverend Curry made his name known by all for being the first African American bishop in the American Episcopal Church. Now, his name is making headlines again by being chosen to give an address at the royal wedding for Prince Harry of Wales and Meghan Markle next week.
The Kensington Palace made an official announcement via Twitter saying:
"Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have asked that The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, give the address at their wedding.”
He's expressed his excitement and support for the couple by describing their love as a "source and origin in God, and is the key to life and happiness.”
The Chicago-born minister will be side by side with Reverend David Conner, dean of Windsor, who will be conducting the service, as well as Justin Welby, the archbishop of Canterbury, who will be officiating as the couple makes their wedded vows at Windsor Castle.
Usually, tradition calls for addresses to be made by a leader of the Church of England, but Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby shared that he was "thrilled" to have Bishop Curry at their ceremony.
"@PB_Curry is a brilliant pastor, stunning preacher and someone with a great gift for sharing the good news of Jesus Christ."
