Florida police caught having sex with minor

A Florida police officer has resigned and is now facing charges after being arrested for having sex with a 17-year-old girl.

Former Winter Haven cop William Kenna, 39, was arrested by deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office early Saturday morning over allegations he had sex with an underage girl.

Officers were reportedly contacted several hours before the arrest about the possible relationship between Kenna and the girl. When police responded, they found Kenna and the teen alone in a room together. Both denied that any sexual act had occurred at the time.

According to an affidavit, the girl said she and Kenna had known each other for about a year and a half and would discuss personal problems and give each other advice. About four months ago, the two were at Kenna's home in Winter Haven when they had consensual sex.

Kenna claims he and the teen only had sex once.

Kenna was taken to the Polk County jail and faces one charge of sexual activity with a victim 16 or 17.
