Jimmy Butler Traded to Minnesota Timberwolves
The NBA Draft was somewhat upstaged by the first big trade of the offseason on Thursday night, June 22. For weeks Jimmy Butler's name has swirled around the league with a number of teams hoping to land the next big name to leave Chicago, and when the smoke settled it was the Minnesota Timberwolves who'd come away with the three-time All-Star.
The agreement awaits approval by the league's front office, but as it stands the T-Wolves would acquire Butler and the Bulls' 16th pick in exchange for Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn, and 7th overall draft pick Lauri Markkanen. Butler will now join Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins on the court while reuniting with former head coach Tom Thibodeau.
The trade comes on the one-year anniversary of the Bulls' Derrick Rose trade.
