Atlanta based producer, Metro Boomin, exploded in music and pop culture due in part to his producer tag, “If Young Metro don’t’ trust you, I’m gone shoot you” introducing multiple hit singles featuring rappers from Future to Young Thug. With his two friends/musical partners at odds with one another, Metro Boomin, finds himself in a dilemma.
The 22-year-old spoke about staying neutral in the disagreement between the Atlanta artists, "You can’t have either one of them feel like you f**king with the other one more than them. Either one of them would be offended. You gotta remain neutral as much as possible. It’s no bias. Atlanta, man—everybody’s a male, there’s a lot of ego.” TheJumpman producer thinks the competition between Future and Young Thug is good for hip hop saying, “Somebody gotta be number one. Neither one of them are the type to settle for number two. I feel like they both motivate each other, and it’s good for the culture and the music—just as long as it stay at that."
The beef started between the two rappers on social media after a misinterpreted tweet by Metro Boomin led Young Thug to refer to the Wicked rapper as “Tito” of the Jackson Five while claiming himself to be the new Michael Jackson. Metro Boomin says he considers both rappers his family, “Future’s like an older brother to me, and Thug’s more like a brother my age,” he stated.
The Morehouse College alum is hoping to create new music with both rappers for the fans saying, “I wanna bring that together.. the songs we were doing, they’re so great. They’re still great. It could be so much better”.
