Colorado Officer Arrested For Lying About How He Was Shot
Commerce City, CO, police officer Kevin Lord was arrested and charged with attempting to influence a public official. According to the Denver Post, Lord claimed he was shot in the chest during a routine traffic stop, and a $20,000 reward was being offered for information on the shooter.
However, members of the Critical Incident Team investigated the incident, which led to Lord's arrest. Commerce City Police Chief Troy Smith commented on the situation, "Yesterday I stood here and told you that no stone would be left unturned in this investigation, and that's exactly what has occurred. We have pursued the truth and the truth has led us to this place."
When 17th Judicial District Attorney Dave Young was asked about there being an actual shooting the night Lord claims he was shot, he replied by saying he could not comment due to the case being under investigation.
