Mother Arrested After Daughter Strangles Herself While Left Alone In Car

Police took a Virginia mother into custody after her diaper-clad toddler died alone in her car as she cut a client’s hair.

Investigators believe Tabitha Inge, 28, of Chesterfield, left the little girl, named Mikayla, shoeless and unclothed in the car on Tuesday night as she styled a client’s hair.

After only a few minutes, Inge walked outside to check on the 2-year-old child, neighbors at the trailer park told WTVR, but the girl had already died.

A preliminary investigation shows the girl accidentally strangled herself between the car window and door frame, the TV station reported.

A neighbor heard yelling outside moments later and then saw Inge run into the home screaming hysterically screaming.

“Somebody call the police. My baby is dead,” Inge reportedly cried.

Police are still examining what led to the child’s death, especially if Mikayla opened the window on her own or was not in a car seat.

Inge has since been arrested for child neglect, WTVR later reported.
