Arby’s Bought Pharrell’s Vivienne Westwood Mountain Hat For More Than $44,000
Pharrell’s hat has really been making its way around Hollywood. From its first appearance atop the singer’s cranium at the Grammys this year, the Vivienne Westwood style topper, which you can buy for yourself for $180 here if interested (it comes in hot pink), has been in the presence of Hollywood all-stars, including Lupita Nyong’o and P. Diddy, and Pharrell even sported a black version of the hat at last night’s 86th annual Academy Awards. But the most interesting place the hat ended up was Arby’s.
You see, to help out his charity, From One Hand to AnOTHER, Pharrell set up an auction on eBay for the original brown mountain hat that he wore to the Grammys. Arby’s, whose own logo is remarkably similar to the style, had been engaging with some hat-related tete-a-tete with Pharrell for a while, and in what’s ultimately a smart PR move, the company decided to get “their” hat back once and for all, winning the auction and the hat for the small price of $44,100, as reported by Time. See below for the tweet that says it all.

@Pharrell You’re welcome. We’re HAPPY to support a great cause & get our hat back. Good luck at the #Oscars tonight! pic.twitter.com/2oA7qDPX9z

All in all, everyone wins in this exchange. From One Hand to AnOTHER, a nonprofit whose mission is “to change the world one kid at a time by giving them the tools and resources to meet their unique potential,” gets a large amount of support, and Arby’s got its moment in the spotlight. Once again, Pharrell managed to make everyone a little more happy. He’s getting pretty good at that, isn’t he?
