Jason Kidd Catches $50,000 Fine for Spilling Drink on Court

Jason Kidd's alleged attempt to delay a game against the Los Angeles Lakers is going to hurt him in his wallet. The Brooklyn Nets coach spilled his drink near the end of the November 27 loss against the Lakers to cause a delay, and the NBA isn't buying that it was accidental. Kidd was hit with a $50,000 fine for his antics.

According to USA Today, the league said the fine was "for intentionally spilling a drink on the floor to delay the game. The time needed to clean up the mess gave the Nets, who were down 97-94, time to huddle up and draw a three-point shot. Assistant coach John Welch designed the play for Paul Pierce, who ended up missing the potential game-tying three.

The Nets are struggling this season; they currently sit on a 4-11 record.
