Nicki Minaj Settles Feud With Hot 97 DJ

It’s not every day you hear about Nicki Minaj making peace with one of her many haters, but this time, it appears that the American Idol judge has actually managed to put a feud to rest. How did Nicki manage to come to terms with a former enemy otherwise known as DJ Peter Rosenberg?
Nicki Minaj has had several rather public feuds over the years. While most people have focused on her continuous bickering with fellow American Idol judge Mariah Carey, this certainly is not the only nasty feud the rapper-singer experienced in the past year. In fact, a significant altercation took place before Nicki even joined the American Idol judging panel.
Last summer, Nicki was scheduled to appear at the Hot 97 Summer Jam, also known as the biggest annual event for the popular New York radio station. But after DJ Peter Rosenberg accused her hit song Starships of not being ‘real’ hip hop music, a furious Nicki decided that the event was not worth her time.
Nearly a year later, Nicki and Peter have decided to make peace. Part of this decision stemmed from Peter’s exasperation at how often listeners bring up last year’s feud. During a recent interview featuring both Nicki and Peter, the DJ admitted that the singer has come up “every day of my life for 350 days…to the point that Starships got played at my wedding.” But despite the slight annoyance related to constantly hearing Nicki’s name, Peter admitted that he had to thank the artist, for, “By sheer proxy of dealing with [Nicki], she made me more popular.”
Nicki Minaj was also happy to have the opportunity to have a real face-to-face discussion with the DJ that made her so angry last year. In retrospect, she realizes that she overreacted to the criticism. But time has a way of easing tensions — a cliche that certainly applies to this particular feud. As Nicki explains, “It’s water under the bridge … I mean it’s so long ago. I can’t even act like I care anymore.”
