DRAKE boycott starts after video surface of him kissing a 17-year old girl
Video has surfaced of Drake kissing a 17-year-old fan on stage during a 2010 concert in Denver. In the footage, Drake invites a young woman on stage from the audience, he dances with her, kisses the back of her neck, and touches her breasts as the audience cheers him on. Afterward, he asks her how old she is. When she tells him she's 17 (the legal age for consent in Colorado is 17), he backs away and jokingly says, "I can’t go to jail yet, man!”
“Why do you look like that? You thick. Look at all this," he continues. “I don’t know if I should feel guilty or not, but I had fun. I like the way your breasts feel against my chest.”
He kisses her on the cheeks, face, and forehead, then sends her back into the crowd.
Drake would have been 23 in 2010 when this video was filmed. The rapper has not yet responded to the video, and his publicist has declined to comment to multiple news outlets.
The video has caused outrage on social media, with some even commenting on the timing of this footage surfacing right after the conclusion of Surviving R. Kelly. The disturbing footage highlights what is a common, and concerning, power dynamic in the music industry.
This isn't the first time Drake has received backlash for inappropriate behavior with young women. In September, rumors circulated that Drake was dating 18-year-old model Bella Harris, whom he's known since she was 16. Some have also taken issue with Drake's relationship with 14-year-old Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. Last year, Brown told reporters that he texts her dating advice about boys, which some saw as inappropriate.
