Female Gets 20 Years in Prison for Setting Up Tay-K Involved Robbery
A 17-year-old girl, whose identity is being withheld due to her age, was the first of seven people to be sentenced in a case involving "The Race" rapper Tay-K.
The teen was given a 20-year sentence for being the mastermind behind the 2016 attempted robbery of Zachary Beloate, whom she was romantically involved with. The incident led to the death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker, who was shot while sitting on the floor as instructed during the botched robbery. Beloate was also shot while fighting with one of the suspects, and he managed to run to his neighbor's house to call for help.
The unnamed teen, along with female suspects Megan Holt and Ariana Bharrat, fled the scene and were arrested on July 27 and July 28, 2016, respectively, and they are facing capital murder charges. Latharian Merritt is also facing a capital murder charge, along with Taymor "Tay-K" McIntyre and Jalen Bell. Another suspect, Sean Robbinson, is facing capital murder, attempted capital murder and two counts of aggravated robbery.
Tay-K and Jalen Bell are facing separate capital murder charges after officers allege that they were involved in the robbery and murder of 23-year-old Mark Anthony Saldivar in San Antonio. The incident happened after Tay-K and Jalen Bell cut off their ankle monitors and fleeing while awaiting their certification hearings in the murder case of Ethan Walker. A month after the San Antonio murder, Tay-K was accused of attacking and robbing 65-year-old Skip Pepe at a park in Arlington Texas. Tay-K is expected to be tried as an adult in the Walker case, along with the Skip Pepe robbery case.
While on the run, Tay-K filmed the video for his platinum-selling track, "The Race," which shows him standing in front of his wanted poster. The song has been remixed by 21 Savage, Lil Yachty, Tyga, Rico Recklezz, and Fetty Wap, to name a few.
