Future Goes Platinum for the First Time

Future is about to receive his first platinum plaque for his third album “Dirty Sprite 2.”
The album was released in July 2015 and is now his highest selling to date. It debuted on the charts selling 150,000 copies in its first week and was his first album to hit No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200. “DS2” really put Future back on the map and marked a huge comeback for him. It features some of his biggest hits including “Commas,” “Trap N***as, and “Where Ya At” with Drake. The collaboration with Drake also led to a joint project with the Toronto rapper titled “What A Time to Be Alive” which also went platinum. However, since it was joint project, it didn’t count as Future's first platinum plaque as a solo artist.
Future wasted no time capitalizing on the success of those two projects and released his fourth album “Evol” to follow it up. The success continued for the Atlanta trapper as he became the fastest selling artist to chart three number-one albums in 2016 on the Billboard 200 since Glee in 2010. He also was scheduled to be the headliner for Hot 97’s Summer Jam last week. Unfortunately, his set was canceled due to a terrible rain storm and issues with New York City. “The storm that was fast approaching the NY/NJ area affected Hot 97’s Summer Jam. We sat around and watched the storm come and pass, ready to hit the stage,” said Future’s manager Anthony Selah in a statement. “Once we arrived at Summer Jam there apparently was a riot that broke out in a section during another set. We were told that the station was forced by the city and the venue to cut us from the show. The festival organizers came to Future’s dressing room and personally asked him to leave immediately.”
