Amir Issa, 29, was shot to death by his 69-year-old father, Shehada Issa, for being gay. According to the police, the victim’s father was arrested after they found his son’s dead body laying outside of their North Hills, Los Angeles home.

According to the L.A. District Attorney, Shehada had previously told his son that he would kill him for being gay. The victim’s father provided the reasoning behind his crime to police, saying that he shot his son Amir in self-defense after he discovered his wife’s dead body in their home. At the time of the arrest, an investigation into the death of his wife was currently in progress.

Shehada was charged with one count of premeditated murder, and is currently being held without bail.
