Black Navy Vet Shot 30 Times Pleads For Justice
Do Black lives really matter?
A Virginia woman is seeking justice for her daughter after she was killed by police while in the car with her boyfriend. The mother took to Facebook and posted an emotional video pleading for help with the case.
According to NY Daily News:
Virginia Beach police conceded that Gina Best’s daughter, India Kager, was fatally shot by mistake after her boyfriend opened fire on a SWAT team from a car with Kager and their infant son inside Sept. 5.
“I had decided to keep my grief private and home. But today I have to record,” Best said through tears in front a portrait of her fallen daughter in her Navy uniform. “I want the world to know what a mother goes through when your child is stolen and executed for no reason.”
Best said her daughter, who lived in Maryland, had been in Virginia Beach less than three hours when she and her boyfriend Angelo Perry died in a hail of 30 rounds. Their son Roman, who was then only 4 months old, survived.
“It was accidental. It was not intended. But they were right on top of each other as he was firing his weapon at the officers,” Cervera said. “In essence, the officers put themselves in harm’s way to prevent another act of violence which was to be perpetrated in our city.”
The names of the four SWAT officers, who were placed on administrative duty after the shooting, have yet to be released, Best said. She didn’t immediately respond to a request to know whether her family has been compensated or filed a wrongful death lawsuit.
