R. Kelly: Child Sex Claims Wouldn't Exist If I Wasn't Famous
Rumors of child sexual abuse have been following R. Kelly around since a woman named Tiffany Hawkins claimed she had sex with the singer when she was 15 and he was 24. While the singer later settled the $10 million lawsuit out of court for $250,000, he told New York magazine that the allegations wouldn't even exist if he weren't famous.
"That's a rumor that comes from the Earth, like all rumors," Kelly added, "No. It's not true. I love women, period. If I wasn't a celebrity, people wouldn't be saying these things about me."
Speaking more about the situation, Kelly addressed people close to him, including his brother and longtime personal assistant, backing up the rumors. The singer explained, "All those people have been fired by me. If you're going to ask me these questions, you have to make sense out of it. It wasn't until after they got fired that they said these things. Go figure. I got one life, and I don't want to spend it talking about negativity. I've moved on. Maybe you haven't."
