Wrestler Jimmy Superfly Snuka Charged in Girlfriend's Death

World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka has been charged with third-degree murder and involuntary manslaughter in the 1983 death of his then-girlfriend Nancy Argentino. Lehigh County, PA, prosecutors made the announcement after a grand jury investigation was launched in the death of the 23-year-old woman.
Snuka told investigators that he was attending a taping for the World Wrestling Federation in Allentown, PA, and when he returned to his hotel room he found Argentino choking and oozing yellow fluid from her mouth and nose. The young woman passed away one day later with injuries that investigators say were consistent with being hit with a stationary object.
The former wrestler spoke about the incident in a 2012 autobiography, and he said it ruined his life as he also maintained his innocence. Snuka wrote, "Many terrible things have been written about me hurting Nancy and being responsible for her death, but they are not true. This has been very hard on me and very hard on my family. To this day, I get nasty notes and threats. It hurts. I never hit Nancy or threatened her."
Nancy Argentino's sister, Louise Argentino-Upham spoke out about Snuka being charged, and she revealed that their 90-year-old mother will be pleased that justice was served. The Argentino family previously won a wrongful death lawsuit against Snuka in 1985.
"I think that it's been a long road. They did the right thing in face of all the evidence."
Snuka is expected to post a portion of his $100,000 bail after being arraigned on Tuesday (September 1). Article Image: Wrestler Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka Charged in Girlfriend's Death
