Game Explains Gang Influence On 'Documentary 2' Album Cover
With the recent release of his single "100" featuring Drake, Game has announced the release date of The Documentary 2 and the story behind his raw album cover.
The rapper says the current wave of west coast releases from Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre have inspired him to drop his album on Sept. 25. A number of producers and have contributed to the highly anticipated album including Just Blaze, The Alchemist, Dr Dre, Kanye West and Mike Will Made It. Three singles were also released to accommodate the album with "100" landing the highest on the Billboard Hip Hop/R&B Songs Chart.
Shot by veteran hip hop photographer Jonathan Mannion, the rapper says the cover was inspired by his hometown of West Compton and the gang culture that has plagued his city for decades.
"This album will add to my cities continuous legacy!" the rapper said in the captioned album cover."I'm proud to be from #COMPTON & I wish #EazyE was alive to see us flourish yet again...... We on !!! This album cover represents the struggle to stay alive in a city where CRIPS & BLOODS have been at war since 1972 & it's because of you "THE FANS" I will again get to give you my documented accounts of life here in Los Angeles."
