Supreme Court Rules Gay Marriage Legal Nationwide

Article Image: Supreme Court Rules Gay Marriage Legal NationwideJust in time for Pride weekend, today the Supreme Court has made it a requirement for all states in America to allow same-sex marriage.
"The court now holds that same-sex couples may exercise the fundamental right to marry. No longer may this liberty be denied to them," wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy in the majority opinion. Liberal justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen G. Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan agreed with Kennedy while Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel A. Alito Jr. wrote separate opinions against the ruling, making it a 5-4 decision.
President Obama has since tweeted the following: "Today is a big step in our march toward equality. Gay and lesbian couples now have the right to marry, just like anyone else."  LBGTQ supporters have spread the #LoveWins hashtag all across social media since the announcement.
