Two police officers shot in Ferguson
Two police officers were reportedly shot in a protest outside of the Ferguson Police Department following Police Chief Tom Jackson announcing his resignation.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Susan Weich broke the news on Twitter, "Two officers shot in #Ferguson. Shots came from a house up the hill across from police station ... Witness said one of cops shot in face ... First officer taken away was white."
A press conference a few hours later revealed that a 44-year-old St. Louis County officer had been hit in the shoulder, while 32-year-old Webster Groves officer was shot in the face. Both were said to be conscious and expected to survive.
Ferguson has been tense since former officer Darren Wilson shot and killed 18-year-old unarmed teen Michael Brown in August of 2014. Wilson later resigned from the department after a grand jury declined to indict him for killing Brown.
