ANDERSON SILVA TESTS POSITIVE FOR STEROIDS FOLLOWING UFC RETURN

Anderson "The Spider" Silva, one of the UFC's most renowned champions and a candidate for many a fan's pick as the "G.O.A.T.," has recently tested positive for anabolic steroid usage.

Tests were conducted on January 9th, January 19th, and January 31st, though only the January 9th tests have been reviewed thus far, and the test results came back positive for illegal substances.  The 39-year-old former Middleweight Champion tested positive for both drostanolone and androstane.  His January 31st fight vs. Nick Diaz was Anderson's first fight in 13 months after suffering a gruesome injury where he snapped his leg in half during his rumble with Chris Weidman.

"On Feb. 3, 2015, the UFC organization was notified by the NSAC that Anderson Silva tested positive for drostanolone metabolites on his Jan. 9 out of competition drug test.  UFC's understanding is that further testing will be conducted by the commission to confirm these preliminary results.

"Anderson Silva has been an amazing champion and a true ambassador of the sport of mixed martial arts and the UFC, in Brazil as well as around the world. UFC is disappointed to learn of these initial results."

Neither Anderson nor Nick have yet to comment on the matter.  Despite the fact that this is Nick's third marijuana offense, do you think he should receive a lesser punishment considering that steroids are a far more serious drug to take prior to a fight than marijuana?
