ERICA MENA’S AFFAIR WITH DJ ENVY ALMOST CAUSED HIM TO END HIS MARRIAGE, ERICA’S TELL ALL BOOK COMING SOON
Erica was never to keen about and taking advantage of her affair with popular radio personality DJ Envy. Speaking out Thursday, Feb. 28, the “Where Do I Go From Here” singer says she covered their affair and relationship up for months due to his wife and children.
“I didn’t speak on it for a very long time because as a woman I was embarrassed. On top of that, I considered the feelings of this other woman and her children and I don’t think a lot of people really realize that,” Mena told V103 Thursday.
Erica Mena announced the release of a book titled “Underneath It All.” In addition to discussing her life, including struggles with the father of her son, Mena claimed that the book will cover her affair with DJ Envy.
Erica is claiming that he never wore a wedding ring and that she didn’t know he was married for a long time, Erica Mena says the book is not a way for her to cash in or try to make a buck off of an affair.
“My book is not a tell all. It’s about my life and it just so happens that Envy is a big part of my life. I’ve only had three major relationships in my life, one of them being with my son’s father, Raul from Terror Squad. Not too long after leaving him I met Envy and the previous relationship was abusive. I think at that time that I met Envy I was real vulnerable and naive and I really didn’t look too much into it, like you normally would when you take someone serious in a relationship. Everything that he did, as far as going out of his way to make me feel special and that I was the only one, was extremely believable,” Mena admitted.
“The book is really just explaining the experiences that I went through. It’s not like I’m doing it to deliberately put it out there or brag about this. This is not something to brag about. I’ve been protecting and trying to cover up for him and be as loyal as I could to him and his situation and it’s just unfortunate that when it came time for him to defend me on that, like I went out of my way to defend him, he didn’t really give me back that kind of respect,” Mena shared. “All I’m doing is trying to explain my side of the story.”
