Yesterday, it was reported that a stunt driver lost her life on the set of Deadpool 2. Since then, the name of the woman has been released. According to reports, the woman, whose name is Joi Harris, lost control of her motorcycle and ultimately crashed through a window of Shaw Tower in downtown Vancouver. Since the accident occurred, production of Deadpool has come to a stop, and the crew is not sure of when it will start up again.
Deadline reported that Harris practiced her scene for “two full days,” and went over the entire stunt “five-plus times before filming.” However, when she was riding the motorcycle, it accelerated instead of slowing down like she planned when Harris turned the corner on the last shot of the scene. It was also noted that Harris was not wearing a helmet while riding because her character in that scene did not have one on. Joi Harris was the first African-American female professional road racer. Deadpool 2 was her first time filming as a professional stunt woman.
